Vehicle Branding FAQs

1.  How long does a vehicle wrap typically last in South Africa?

A premium vehicle wrap using premium cast vinyl (such as 3M Controltac, Avery Dennison, or Oracal) with UV-protective lamination typically lasts 3 to 5 years under South Africa's intense UV conditions. Proper hand-washing and garage parking extend the lifespan.

2.  What is the difference between cast vinyl and polymeric/calendared vinyl for vehicle wraps?

Cast vinyl is a thin, flexible premium film that conforms seamlessly to complex curves, recesses, and deep panel contours without shrinking or lifting. Polymeric/calendared vinyl is thicker, less flexible, and prone to shrinking or peeling over time, making it suitable only for flat surfaces or short-term applications.

3.  Can a vehicle wrap be removed without damaging the underlying paint?

Yes. Professional vehicle wraps applied with cast vinyl can be safely removed using controlled heat without damaging OEM (factory) clear coats or paintwork.

4.  How should I care for and wash a wrapped vehicle?

Hand wash the vehicle using a mild car shampoo and soft microfibre cloth. Avoid high-pressure washers closer than 30 cm from edges, automatic brush car washes, and harsh petroleum-based chemicals.

5.  How long does the installation process take for a full vehicle wrap?

A full commercial or custom vehicle wrap typically takes 2 to 4 business days. This includes surface cleaning, panel preparation, vinyl application, post-heating to set memory, and quality inspection.

6.  Does vehicle wrapping protect the car's original paint?

Yes, a vinyl wrap shields factory paint from UV fading, light surface scratches, stone chips, and bird droppings, preserving the original paintwork underneath.

7.  What is the difference between a full wrap, partial wrap, and spot graphics?

A full wrap covers 100% of the painted exterior surfaces. A partial wrap covers specific sections (such as bonnet, sides, or rear doors; typically 30%–70%). Spot graphics consist of individual cut vinyl decals, logos, or contact details applied directly to door panels or glass.
